Batteries based on lithium thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2) have the best characteristics for autonomous power supply of QMS modules.
These are primary lithium batteries of industrial type, which provide 3.6V voltage, extended temperature range, low self-discharge and the highest energy density known today, as well as safety and durability. QMS uses and recommends the Korean manufacturer Xenoenergy.
General characteristics of XenoEnergy lithium-thionyl chloride batteries:
- Open circuit voltage 3.67V
- The operating voltage is maintained until the end of the discharge
- Temperature range -55°C+85°C (there are models up to +150°C)
- Self-discharge at room temperature 1-2% per year
- Excellent shelf life: more than 15 years at room temperature
- Due to the sealed structure without high pressure, separate safety devices are not required.
